Our supplier has provided information on the requirement to use and maintain their products. For the maintenance of the Respiratory Protective Equipment checklists shall be carried out before and after use thoroughly and recorded. Cleaning of the mask must be the correct detergents recommended by the manufacturer and dried thoroughly before putting into storage. RPE comes in many different shapes and size but must undertake at a minimum annual Servicing to ensure the efficiency of the wearer. The most important use of RPE is attached below from the HSE website. HSE Notes RPE is designed to protect the wearer from hazards. You will require RPE that is adequate and suitable to ensure the wearer is protected. This means: · Adequate – It is right for the hazard and reduces exposure to the level required to protect the wearer’s health. · Suitable – It is right for the wearer, task and environment, such that the wearer can work freely and without additional risks due to the RPE. |
RPE selected for use for the individual shall have undergone face fit testing for the type of mask being worn by the individual. The individual shall be given a choice of the type of mask most comfortable and adequate that fits them.
The selected mask must be used as detailed by the manufacturer’s guidance and training for the best effective way to wear it correctly for the best protection whilst using it. The wearer needs to be clean-shaven around the face seal to achieve an effective fit when using tight-fitting facepieces.
